"Total waste of money. Do not go! You will have spent $50,000+ and leave with no improvement at all after 31 days. The parent company does a great job, with Promises, it's rehabilitation center for substance abuse.
Malibu Vista is a treatment center for women with psychological issues, including depression, PTSD, personality and mood disorders. The therapy, both individual psychotherapy and group therapy, as well as the psychiatric care is ineffective. The days are filled with a substantial amount of downtime, where no therapy is scheduled for the patients. Too much focus is placed on the food offered to the patients, cooking classes and nutrition classes - total waste of time.
I spent 31 days at Malibu Vista, hoping for some I effective therapy for my depression. Sadly, I left Malibu Vista with no improvement at all in my symptoms. After leaving Malibu Vista, I checked into another treatment center which was much more effective than Malibu Vista, no comparison. The other patients at Malibu Vista shared my opinions and also found the program at Malibu Vista to be highly ineffective. In addition, the discharge planning at Malibu Vista was almost non existent and several patients were left feeling helpless and hopeless after the 31 days spent at Malibu Vista. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON MALIBU VISTA. It is a money making scam. Nothing positive will come out of your experience at Malibu Vista. You will leave feeling more discouraged. The professionals are inexperienced and treat ALL psychological conditions in the same manner. As marketed by the company, there is NO individual treatments for patients with different disorders. The same ineffective treatment is offered to everyone.
I hope my review helps other patients looking for help. After my 31 days in the program, I checked myself into an inpatient psychiatric unit of a major hospital, because I left Malibu Vista feeling more depressed than when I checked into Malibu Vista. Be smart and do not waster your money on this scam. It is not the way it is marketed and it will NOT help you. Good luck and be smart."
